San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) August 18, 2008 — San Francisco design store and gallery, Rare Device, is proud to present Sleep Walk: New Work by Amy Earles (http://www.pushedunder.com/). Her work will occupy the Rare Device gallery September 4, 2008 - September 30, 2008. A reception for the artist will be held Thursday, September 4, from 7 - 9 pm.

Sleep Walk, a hauntingly sweet and sometimes sinister collection of gouache paintings, pencil drawings and paper dolls by Amy Earles, focus on the thoughts behind the artist’s closed eyes: “the mind wandering, the quiet, travel the overcast and dusk.” With her work, Amy hopes to give her audience a view into see their own stories.

Amy Earles has spent most of her life with pencil or pen in her hand and paper on her lap. Since her childhood, friends and family member have endured almost unending drawing sessions. Having a long enduring interest in dreams, Earles’ work draws upon their symbols, reflecting everything from extreme sentimentalism to worry to isolation. Earles is currently located in Indiana where she focuses most of her attention on her craft and on those who share her life.

Rare Device is a store and gallery that features functional experiments and original ideas in art, design, craft and fabrication. Owners Rena Tom and Lisa Congdon seek out objects that are beautiful, evocative, well constructed and thoughtful. We are pleased to bring to our San Francisco store an ever-growing roster of local, national and international artists and designers for a truly “rare” experience.

Rare Device (raredevice.net) is located at 1845 Market Street between Valencia and Guerrero Streets. Store/gallery hours are Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, noon to 7 pm, Thursday noon to 9 pm and Sunday noon to 6 pm.
