RECONSTRUCTION OF THE OLD TONESTUDIOS BUILDING

The Mosfilm studio is permanently renewed, and now the complete reconstruction of the old Tonestudios building goes on. After opening of the new Tonestudios in the late eighties the old block built as early as the forties was not in use for the purpose specified. Location and interior shootings were carried out there, and any serious renewal was not made there.

Now there is a project of the total reconstruction of this building belonging to the epoch of Stalin architecture. In the course of the reconstruction only carrying walls remained in the old building; new floorings were poured, new roofing was made, and all the engineering system was replaced; now it corresponds to all the up-to-the-minute specification requirements.

A lot of new projects are lately in process of making in the Mosfilm Cinema Concern what resulted in the necessity of the enlargement of the Tonestudios.

With the restoration completed four new sound recording studios will be accommodated in the building: the Dolby Premier large post-production studio, the foley recording studio and two studios of digital editing equipped with the system ProTools. In accordance with the unique acoustical project made especially for Mosfilm one placed the order of modern equipment that has no analogues in Russia. Acoustical adaptation and putting of the building into operation are scheduled early next year.
