Music - a key to happy creative life

Unless we are alive to the threat of mental conditioning, we cannot lead a happy creative life.

A sincere objective probe into our enjoyment of music will help us greatly to ensure our freedom to lead happy creative life.

Every individual has a dimension in his/her personality related to arts and culture. In a nourishing social environment an individual will have support and facility to develop the dimension and experience the benefits both at the individual and social levels. At the social level the benefits will be social harmony and development including economic gains.

At the individual level arts will function as a good friend strengthening our spirits when feel depressed. It will be an effective medium to celebrate our joy. To express all feelings including anger arts will serve greatly. We can even experience God through arts.

Nature is a great source of arts apart from human productions.

When we see a human painting it is static. Do you want to see a dynamic painting?
Look at the sky in early morning as it displays dynamic colorful paintings till the sun makes it white and blue.

You can identify a rhythm in the sound from waterfalls and thunder.

There is great music in many of the sounds from nature.

We will not have time to enjoy all these things when we are like robots mentally conditioned to pursue wealth, power, etc. as main goals of our life.

As human robots we can enjoy only those arts, which we are expected to enjoy according to the mental conditioning of our life.

To lead a creative original life an individual must be sensitive to himself/herself and to nature and society. Any under nourishment to any of the three sensitive dimensions will ultimately affect the life of the individual.

Arts will help greatly to nourish an individual’s sensitive relation to these three dimensions.

Arts and culture will prosper in an environment sensitive to nature and society.
Divorced from society and nature, arts and culture loose their natural roots.

In that case, arts and culture will be dominated by human parasites strengthening imitation and sacrificing creativity and originality. Negative values will start dominating in arts and culture. Certain types of modern music were found to be attractive to some high school students who were accused with criminal violence in US. When negative values dominate in music, music may become negative.

If negative values like favoritism and discrimination dominates in arts and culture it indicates serious problems in society. One such problem may be that more individuals are becoming human robots in the society.

Of all the arts music had become part of human life with the development of science and technology.

According to ancient Tamil poem called `Naladiyar’, the nature of society can be inferred from the nature of music in the society. It can also be applied to an individual.

A sincere objective probe into our enjoyment of music will reveal whether we live as humans or human robots.

Let us be the kings in our enjoyment of music and not mentally conditioned slaves.
